Antibes, France (Day 9) 5/19/22

We awoke to another magnificent day weather wise and are headed out to exercise, have a croissant and begin our last day in Antibes.

We will pack up and drive to the small town of Vence in the morning.  There we'll spend 2 nights before heading home.

We began our day with a small nosh at the hotel.  Finally got my ratatouille fix and an homage to Caroline (a delicate but delicious au pain du chocolate).

Views from breakfast:

We headed out to old town Antibes from our hotel in Juan les Pins - about a 30 minute walk.

GORGEOUS orchids along the way:

The views were ridiculous!

Le Nomade sculpture near the Port Vauban in Antibes:

Such a cool piece of sculpture! The Nomad sits at the edge of the port of Antibes, looking out to the sea, searching the horizon. The artist Jaume Plensa welded together thousands of steel letters into a 10 meter high sculpture as a public art piece welcoming ships to the harbor. So cool to see!

THE church in old town Antibes:

We made it to the Provencal Market!  So so fun! Cheeses, meats, flowers and so much more.

Along our walk:

And we visited the Musee Picasso where he painted for years beginning in 1946.  Amazing structure housing over 275 of his works.

Back at the hotel, 16000 steps later relaxing and enjoying our last day in Antibes to the fullest.

We have a fabulous dinner arranged at La Passagere tonight before tomorrow heading to the hills of Vence and lunch at the famed La Columbe d'Or which is a restaurant that also houses works of art by Picasso, Matisse and others serving classic French food.

UPDATE 5/20/22

A few pics from last night's dinner:

Amuse Bouches from the chef - first up 4 bites, this one was a blackberry taste.

A ravioli bite made from chickpeas.

Little gougere thing topped with saffron:
I can't even tell you what this dish was a but it was delicious!  A little crunchy bite of yum:

First course after the bites was a pea tarte that was wonderful.

Mushroom course with blackberries in a mushroom sabayon

My favorite dessert was this bite of lemon soufflé - OMG!

Sorbet in the shape of a sea urchin - grapefruit taste.
Our dark chocolate bite:

Chocolate carrot and ginger with gold leaf
And this fresh strawberry concoction was to die for:

Kiwi with mint - it worked!

To say it was a magical evening would be an understatement.  Suwanee/Reality is looming, but for now, we're soaking up the French Riviera as best we can.

Bonsoir d'Antibes!
